because I am endlessly inspired by the everyday beauty, complexity and mystery of the world and will drive myself, my family and my friends crazy if I don't get it out.

It takes everything I have...
...to resist giving into this adorable love bug!
Here's what he was smelling tonight...
Voila...all the fixings for a Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Sandwhich.
You definitely had me at the feta part, but not so much the veggie part! One of these days I'm really just going to have to grow up though, especially since I have a daughter now looking to me! :)
Yes, vinegar is my friend! A spray bottle with half vinegar, half water will clean ANYTHING! It's perfect for washing fruits and vegetables!
Okay this whole chemical free thing is so new for me! It started because of some children I knew with Cancer and in researching their diseases I learned that there is strong evidence that it could be strongly linked by the harmful chemicals in food, cleaning products, and cosmetics. So I am definititely a little crazier than most (I changed almost everything) but there are little things you can do that are simple! One of these days I am going to be brave and get on my "chemical free soap box" no pun intended :) just for one day to share what I have learned!
I used to laugh at people that would pay more for organic and there are certainly things that do not need to be. The fruits with the highest pesticide loads are apples, pears, strawberries (so sad), grapes, and rasberries. I buy all organic when it comes to those. Oranges, pineapple, mango, blueberries, papaya are all safe and save your money!
Veggies: bell pepper, lettuce, cucumber, zuchinni, should be organic! But, tomatoes, onions, avacado, and potatoes (i think) don't matter!
At the end of the day...who knows?! I really just want to enjoy life and food! But if there is something easy I can do then I will do it!
Wow Lisa, thanks for all of the info on organic fruits and veggies. The only thing that holds me back from going organic is the cost. I have heard from some people who have made the transition that it is good to start making the change little by little. I eat tons of apples, so maybe I should start there since they seem to be big pesticide culprits.
Where do you grocery shop by the way, if you don't mind me asking. I stopped by Safeway yesterday to pick up a couple small things and couldn't really find organic apples.
Any suggestions?
Oh and I hope you get on your chemical soap box soon, I would love to hear about what you have learned in making the transition!
The dork is baaaacck! I just wanted to say that I think (being a tru bargain hunter) that Safeway is a money sucker! We have one really close and anytime I just pop in there for one or two things it makes me so mad! Some people think Trader Joes is expensive but it's really not on a lot of things. I think Safeway tried to getcha with the whole club card hoopla!
Lisa, I started to make the transition to organic this weekend :). yay! I got some Trader Joe's produce and am headed to costco today to see what kind of organic produce I can find. Thanks for the tips!

Is this your doggie and your kitchen? I just love getting a glimpse!!!
I always love your meals! I am a huge veggie lover! Now if they are organic and you washed them in vinegar we were meant to be!!!
Ha Ha!!!
Sadina a.k.a Hanna's Mommy will be laughing at me for that one :)!
Lisa, I am living with a family right now and this is their/our dog :). Isn't he a cutie pie?!
I have to admit guiltily that I haven't jumped on the organic band wagon yet, although I have been seriously contemplating it.
Is that what you do with your veggies? Wash the in vinegar first? I am going to have to try that!

Trader Joes all the way!!! Right now you can get a whole bag of organic apples for 3 dollars!
Costco has them too for really cheap if you know someone with a membership...I am guessing you don't have one being a single lady :)
I feel like a serious dork! :)
Really I am a loser!!!

Oh and one more thing (this is getting funny) at Costco in the baking isle is a huge two pack of vinegar for 2 dollars and change!
Probably a year supply for you :)
Oh love it, I will have to check for the vinegar next time around! For $2 I definitely will be set for a year!
